Mark G. Goetting, MD
Dr. Goetting graduated from The College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. He completed training in neurology, pediatrics and sleep medicine at The University of Michigan followed by an additional fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Henry Ford Hospital. He is board certified in sleep medicine, neurology and pediatrics and is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians.

Dr. Goetting has authored over 40 peer reviewed papers as well as book chapters and numerous abstracts. His current research interests are in advanced technology for sleep disordered breathing and pharmacotherapy of chronic insomnia and restless legs syndrome.
He serves as Medical Director of Sleep Health, a comprehensive sleep disorders center in Portage, Michigan, and as Medical Director of the Borgess Sleep Disorders Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics and Neurology at Michigan State University, is a fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and a nationally recognized lecturer.
Dr. Goetting worked with both Medicare and the American Medical Association in their recent efforts to define appropriate diagnosis and therapy for sleep apnea as well as reimbursement.
Satya Bhanu Chaparala, M.C., FCCP
Dr. Chaparala is the medical director of the sleep lab at Battle Creek Health Center. Since 1990, he’s been in private practice at The Lung Center servicing patients with sleep disorders and well as pulmonary dysfunctions.
Dr Chaparala attended medical school at Guntur Medical College in Guntur, India. His post graduate training was residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL and a Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Cook County.

Patricia Thompson, ANP-BC
Pat has been a Nurse Practitioner at Battle Creek Health System Sleep Center and also with The Lung Center, which is a private sleep practice working with Dr. Chaparala, for the last 7 years. Before that she was an RN in the Critical Care Unit at Battle Creek Health System for 31 years. She retired from BCHS on November 1st of this year. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Michigan and her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Andrews University in Barrien Springs, Michigan.

She has been married to Richard for 46 years and has 4 children, 15 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Her family is the joy of her life and she spends her off time with them.
She has helped with the planning of the Southwest Michigan Sleep Seminar for several years and is excited to attend the 2010 Professional Edition.
Beth Dean, BS
After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree from Western Michigan University Beth embarked upon a diverse and extensive professional journey. Along the way she graduated from the Michigan Law Enforcement Officer's Training Council Program at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Eventually a new chapter in the journey began with employment as a Regional Sales Representative with Airway Oxygen where she launched the first Southwest Michigan Sleep Seminar in 2007. The quest to see mental and healthcare professionals as well as the general public more educated about the importance of sleep led to the establishment of The Michigan Sleep Alliance…

Organizational Structure
The Michigan Sleep Alliance consists of the Board of Directors with Beth Dean as founder and coordinator. The Greater Alliance is formed of all who Join The Alliance.
Sponsors of the Alliance are also part of the Alliance and Greater Alliance. They are designated by their sponsorship as sponsors of the Alliance and members of the Greater Allance. All together we are The Michigan Sleep Alliance.
